ok, im almost certain ive got it all fitted correctly, as its the same as the haynes manual. But when i blow on the intake pipe, fuel is coming out of the return line. I think the line going to the carb is blocked as there is no fuel going into the carb.

Poor some petrol ( just 20ml or so into the carb venturie )
Crank it and as you do give it veryvery slight throttle. It should fire and run briefly, and may stimulate fule to enter the carb. TT

p.s. watch for backfires spitting out the carb... Not common but can happen...

Fuel should flow out the return at quite a pace once the float chamber is full.

If it does not start with a splish down the carb then pul the plugs, are they new?
Are they wet with fuel? if so Dry them in the oven at 100c for half an hour and if they are not new give them a light rub with sand paper to clean up the electrodes. Also confirm you have a spark by placing one of the plugs in the lead and connecting it's threaded portion to the block with a good jump lead. if theres no spark when cranking you still have an ignition issue. ummm.. Ive just realised i haven't fitted a return fuel line. Now i was always under the impression carbs don't need return lines? Do i need a return line on the 1.8 cvh, if not what do i do to the return fuel line...

Did even fit the vapour seperator in my fuel system. Engine runs fine. IMHO I would throw the seperator in the nearest bin, and connect the pump straight to the carb.
