Default Exhaust silencer options

What is the general consensus on exhaust silencers?
I've seen a few people using bike silencers and that seems like a good idea but I have no Idea what type of bike, engine size it would need be from.
I will have a cat fitted so hopefully that will lower noise a tad.
Any ideas?

Oh it's a 1.8 zetec on standard injection

Saturn MX5 Based Chassis, Limited Slip Diff & 2.4 Quick Rack.

Build cost.... seems to be spending more on tools than car bits at the moment! (they will be handy in the future though).
Car iva'd and passed 15/08/2014. Finished weight 572kg.

Haha that's an odd description.
I don't need one just yet, just no idea what to look for and bike silencers go very cheap

Probably escaped from somewhere in a white jacket that tied at the rear.

I would suggest and 1000CC bike, preferably with a single can should be pretty good. I used a GSXR K4 1000 on mine, due to paranoia I added a DB killer before and after the can - only 92DB at IVA, although it seems a bit louder since they fell out
