Tapered reamer and ball joint pain
Anyone local got a tapered reamer for Sierra uprights?
Also is it just me or is it a nightmare trying to get upper wishbone ball joint to screw in....its tight as hell! Tried screwing via the joint in situ but will end up knacking the boots, then tried spinning wishbone around hub but would need 2 weeks worth of weatabix to try again. Scratched the hell out the wishbones so will need to paint them again once I manage to screw the bloody joints in!

Sounds like you need to "chase" the threads in the end of the wishbone, daft question but is the ball joint the right one ie transit

Hi Kev, yeah it's a transit drag link. I have just just managed to screw it out and it looks as though it is trying to cut its own thread! Oh the joy....

Are they the top fronts that you got from me, did you put any paint in to the threads or put any grease/copper slip on them? If they are that tight they might need a quick run through with a tap again.

Quick update, managed to get bailed out with the reamer - thanks to Paul (flyerncle), the wishbones however are a different story... Took them to a friends machine shop so he can re-tap the threads - Phil these were the bones I got fabbed but maybe it's possible for some contaminants to have got into the threads as my garage is a poo hole for dust/dirt and black paint.
The transit drag links are ruined as the threads look to be flattened. Luckily I have 2 more new ones. Just to put my mind at easy the transit drag links and wishbones are m18x1.5??

Still waiting for my mate to get them tapped, he is currently off work.
Paul, I will fetch the reamer back tomorrow. If you see this in advance I will fetch the bones from my mate and bring them through, if you could take the tap to work with you? If not, I can just leave them with my mate ready When I am back from the states next month.
