Connecting Expansion bottle
Where are people who are building MX5 builds connecting their expansion bottle to?.
I have a VW Polo rad and expansion bottle also from a Polo, do I tee it into the top radiator pipe or could I connect it to the redundant connection at the rear where the heater was and blank off the pipe going to the water pump along the side of the engine under the exhaust manifold or anyone got any info how they have done it. I'm not sure you can just block the heater pipes off can you?
I get the feeling you'd cook the rear cylinder(s) if you did. I connected them together and t'd the expansion bottle into that. I then connected the small connection at the top of the bottle to the small connection on the top of the radiator: Last edited by skov : 6th September 2014 at 06:04 PM. |

I'm still not sure if that was the right way to do it, but it seems to work for me! I've covered nearly 3000 miles now, and it's only overheated once, and that was only because the belt driving the waterpump failed |

Just a thought you could plumb in water to oil heat exchanger that is fitted to most things theses days between the two heater pipes.
