Default Saturn sports cars mx5 fuel tank.

Right well had the idea that i may as well use the mx5 fuel sender and pump. Then just upgrade the stock pump to a walbro 255 unit to handle the rb25det's fuel demand. This would also allow me to keep it all intank and less exposed. also handy to have a built in fuel guage and a tank is allready made and ready to go for a good price. Oh and also has all the fuel returns ect.

Anyone see any problems with this idea? I guess i would need to go buy a mk1 mx5 1.8 fuel sender or would mk2 be ok also can i use a 1.6 seeing as i will change the pump anyhow? Dont know a huge amount about the mx5's so all info welcome.

Oh last question Looking that the plans i think the mx5 saturn tank should fit a standard haynes grp rear end but if not can someone let me know? heh

I suspect the 1.6 and 1.8 units are identical.
...if you do happen to find that they are I've got a 1.6 pump/sender going spare for a good price

Ahh research done. The 1.6l has a shorter fuel pump and is slightly different. Both the Walbro 255's fit but the 1.6 will not allow anything larger. You can see the size difference between the two.

Out of interest any idea how much would you like for the 1.6?

I stand corrected!

You can have it for £10 plus whatever it costs me to post it.
