So are these now mandatory on Class "M" Self builds?

Default Snippet is latest...

TT,

the snippet is from the latest IVA manual, which I downloaded today.

See my post:http://www.haynes.co.uk/forums/showp...8&postcount=10

The version/date on the snippet is not the current manual's version and date, since the section the snippet has been taken from has not been updated since its rev. 3 29/6/2009.

Since it maybe a couple of years until I submit my build for IVA, I intend to fit them, (I have a pair in the garage and have included the necessary wiring on my wiring diagram) as I suspect they will become mandetory in the near future.

OT: Did you see my questions for you in this post?http://www.haynes.co.uk/forums/showp...0&postcount=15

i believe as of next year they will need to be fitted to all kits. its no big deal at the end of the day. all it requires is an extra 12volt feed to the front

In short the answer is no,they only work on the front.

Note 6 states they must turn off with the headlamps/or dips.

The fine for improper use of lights is a £1,000 max ie :fog lights when not needed in daylight.

Is this for newly built vehicles only or would older cars have to abide by these new rules for the MOT?

There is nothing in section one of the testing guide to do with day running lights of any type and the only mention is made to class 5 end marker lights.

Is anyone here using DRL with built-in indicators ?

Something like this (but E-marked): http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LED-DRL-Daytime-Running-Lights-Turn-Signal-Indicators-UNIVERSAL-8LED-15-5cm-/150874551162?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM& hash=item2320d2f37a

I was thinking that this could be good option to have LED DRLs (especially in BEC) and LED indicators... placed under/in front of headlamp brackets.
