more red tape
Hi everybody ....received a phone call from dvla today asking about my chassis as they thought I had purchased it from SSC so I corrected them on that score but then she said she'd have to get back to me re the chassis so 20 mins later the phone rings ....apparently, because all the regional offices have gone it means those inspections that used to take place at them (if you were unlucky enough to have to go to one) can no longer take place. So what they wanted from me was the receipt from the company that I purchased the steel from. So be ready for that one if it crops up.
I don't know what the score will be for anyone who got a flatpack from Handy it's unbelievable the lack of knowledge that the dlva have/not re kit cars |

What if you got your steel out of a skip? You MADE the chassis there should be no need for a reciept for the metal, the IVA checked the chassis number and they have stated that that counts.
I found this on my web travels... Pertinent section was.. Quote:

They don't seem to have a clue.
Tbh I think the only way you will get a reciept (unless you have one) is making it yourself. |

The DVLA is staffed by paper shuffling people who do as they are told by others who know nothing about anything and do as their bosses tell them.
If we had government departments staffed by people who new what they were grossly overpaid to do we probably would not need a government to cock it all up again. You only have to look at the MOT scheme and the constant changes to it to see what I mean. Change for the worse.

It's just another way of the UK goverment getting money out of people and justify thier jobs.
Happy to be away from there.

Same as I posted back here - http://www.haynes.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=13051
BE CAREFUL - if the receipt does not say the word NEW on it then you must provide a letter from the supplier stating it is new. I had recipts for my Armoto chassis kit but had to 'acquire' a letter

Here is a good one,now that we are part of Europe and all things that were in the control of the CAA with regards to licensing are now going to be in line with Europe.
To get an EASA licence you need a language proficiency certificate,Do I qualify as only being English for the past 58 years ?
