The 2.0 Twincam, only issue is the plenum ( assuming it's EFI ) and the sump. But it's been sorted before.
1.8's fine too though. and an easier install. TT

Hello, nice to see another builder on the forum.....
If it was me i would go with the 1.8 cvh every time, TT will know but i dont think they did a G reg cvh - is it not a Pinto. With the CVH though you will have an easier install and put it on bike carbs and you will nearly match the power of the 2.0l (110 bhp). The CVH doesn't like to take a lot of abuse, the 2.0l is a lot stronger, but the CVH is an easy upgrade to a zetec (170 bhp) later on. Will still pass IVA emissions with bike carbs on to. All the Brest....AndyH

1.8 CVH was introduced in 88 IIRC on an F plate.

do you know where i can get a new sump so i can make mods to it or one that has been done for the 1.8 cvh??? |

try and use the original sump as a replacement will cost a lot of money. You can use a zetec sump on a cvh - same flange and bolt patter but one like this modified will cost a lot:

Holey moley Andy .... I nearly had to pop a few of my ticker pill's when I saw the price of that modded sump.
See standard alloy sumps at the breakers all the time .... A couple of those a year would certainly pay for the upkeep of my TIG welder
