Default Vaux engines and gearboxes

I've been offered a vauxhall 2ltr ecotec engine, box and ecu as the owner is just getting cheesed off with falling over it. At £50 the lot it seams too good to pass up as a cheap option for my my class 9 autograsser. As I've only ever built and raced Fords I have very little knowledge of Vauxhall engines and gearboxes, how inter-changable are the engines and gearboxes also the inner pot joints from astras and calibras?
