Default CP18 / Transmission Tunnel Panels

Hi,

I need a bit of help on this one - i'm doing some prep work for the MX-5 build of the roadster and have come across a bit of a conundrum.

Basically I am unsure how people got access to the CP18 brackets after the transmission tunnel pannels when these panels are attached.

I was thinking of mounting these CP18 brackets flush to the outer edge, welding / tacking the transmission tunnel, then drilling a hole through the transmission tunnel panel.
