Default Got a 3.0 V8 Donor

Got my Donor althought only wanting the engine I decided to go for a whole car so I know I've got all the necessary electronics etc, also I'm hoping to sell as much as possible and hopefully as much money back as possible.

I still dont have any space to build it tho So wont be starting to strip the donor just yet, might just put some tax on it and drive it round for a while!

Looks a good buy. Will you be able to fit the fuel injection bits in will you be changing to carbs ? What are you doing gearbox wise ?

I'm initially planning to leave it with standard injection, still got to figure out how to fit it in etc, at this stage I'm not even sure if it will fit in a standard chassis or if I'l be forced to go out of book spec.

As far as gearbox, flywheel & clutch I'm on the hunt now, will have to do some research to see what fits and if any mods are needed.

I've got to create some space to start the build, source some gas for the welder, get back up to speed on welding with some scrap as its been a few years since I picked one up lol, work out if it will fit in a standard chassis etc + many other questions/dilemas to think about so I dont think it will be the quickest build on record but I would like to make a start soon. Will definitely start a proper build thread once I start laying things down

racelogic used to do a paddle shift and programmable ecu for the beemer box, might be worth a look before you junk the autobox. Just thoughts.

Thanks for that Bob, I will look into it as that may well make it a fun piece of kit with the auto, the whole car is up for ideas at the mo as the only definite is the V8, everything else is going to have to fit around it lol.

Dont ask me why but I just have that engine in my head

Its going back a bit but i reckon you could find a system. Have a look at the 1996 bit.

As you say its a while back, I spoke to them and not surprisingly that was discontinued long ago, there do seem to be a couple of other suppliers but they all seem to list kits for 99 onwards.

I might have to explore the bimmer forums and see if they know of anything available or if a later box with it already built in will fit.

Thanks tho Bob, its a good thought well worth more investigation
