Chassis Side Plate CP11
Can somebody tell me if the dimensions marked out in Chris Gibbs latest book are exactly correct for these plates as I am having loads of problems getting the measurements I need transferred to a sheet ready for cutting to line up correctly as in the picture on page 175.
I take it someone must have made these !!!, Any help appreciated, Dave. |

Hi Dave
I marked mine out on a piece of card first & then used that as a template. Then cut the patern out of steel with a jigsaw .... Seem to remember having to fettle them a little to make them fit the profile, don't know if that was because of the jigaw cuts or inaccurate pattern thought. Used 2mm thick Zintec sheet for mine as that was what I had here To be honest, if you are using alloy sides it is not a particulary critical part of the build. As long as they are even & look right, things should be fine. If memory serves me right I don't think the GRP sides need them, could be wrong though !!?? Sure someone will be along to help on that one

CP11 Plates
SPUD:Thought it was me, I'll have another go, my eyesight isn't as it was.
I'm going for alloy sides, so your comments have helped. BONZO: I tried doing a paper guide and then was going to transfer it to the plate and scribe it out, then cut with my AG. Will try again ! Cheers all, Dave. |
