Pinto Cooling & Crankcase Breathing
A couple of quick questions
On the Pinto, is the blocked off stub on the thermostat the highest point of the cooling system? I am just planning where to mount my header tank (prob around the scuttle) and want to ensure it is high enough to keep the system full. Second question. I plan on routing the crankcase breathers to a seperate catch tank. Does it matter what elevation the catch tank is it. My head says no - so was thinking of mounting it on the end of the passenger footwell.

For cooling/water any point above the rocker cover bottom lip is above the water in the head, I have a Westfield breather T in the 16mm hose from water pump to inlet manifold and make sure it is at the highest point.
The breather/catch tank should have the hoses entering higher than the top of the rocker cover or oil mist will travel by gravity to the tank and fill it very quickly. Look at Burtonperfomance web site to see diagrams |
