Bought a Granada Scorpio for Donor
Hi all, New to this but full of enthusiasm for now..Last week i ordered a chassis from Saturn Sports Cars ...Really impressed with them proper nice guy to deal with and helpful to boot !! Today i managed to aquire a 1991 Granada Scorpio with 2.0 DOHC engine and MT75 Box ...I intend to use as much of it as possible ...have researched the mushroom problem for the uprights and think i can work round that ...steering column and rack have yet to be researched...i am an instrument engineer to trade so wiring should be easy enough and my bro is a toolmaker and welding instructer...so should be sorted there....any help regarding the donor would be appreciated ...i am trying to keep the budget tight due to young family etc etc ....
Forgot to mention i have a really willing 8 Year old apprentice petrol head ...thats ma boy.... |

Scorpio should be fine for most parts you need.
My chassis came from an ex-member in Hamilton TT

I too used a Scorpio (Cosworth) for my donor although my car isn't exactly a Haynes roadster. Most of it is usable, front uprights need a larger diameter mushroom insert otherwise its the same. My rear uprights are a slight variation on the Haynes design, you can see the basics of what I did on my blog-ish site in my sig. Diff is the same as far as I'm aware. I'm using the Granny steering column and rack but then as I said mine isn't a haynes chassis so you'd probably be better going for the Mk2 Escort job as per book.
Anything you don't need you can try to dispose of via evil bay but I found there was little interest in much of it and after three abortive attempts to sell my bonnet I gave in and skipped it. I still have quite a bit of the Granny on shelves. D.

I paid £361 for mine and drove it home from Preston to Telford, I have sold some parts from it and have made about £200 back so far. Just a bit surprised that stuff like front wings, bonnet, tailgate and bumpers weren't saleable. Still got the air con pump, front suspension struts, exhaust cats and manifolds etc but they're not in my way as yet so not pushing them.
