Default Hi All

Are there any reasons why frame cannot be built using 25mmx25mmx14swg instead of 16 swg other than small weight gain, much easier to weld and stronger?
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks Lex

Hi Lex

The increased weight is one minor drawback, 20% + weight gain. The extra cost of the steel is also going to be a factor. Steel is usually sold by weight, an extra 20% ish cost there.

The cassis as specified and drawn is very, very strong. I dont think chassis strength is going to be an issue.

If you have access to low cost 14swg square tube, go for it.
