Suspension tollerences.
I trial fitted the rear wishbones yesterday and confirmed what may be an issue.
They were a very tight fit, so much so that I had to give the bracket some attention with my engineers fettle. Now I bought the chassis second hand all bracket/plated up so don't fully know it. I took out my Micrometer tonight and had a measure. Book shows suspension brackets as 44MM between internal faces. My brackets seem to be comming out at 42.5ish nearest the base plate. Crush are spot on at 44mm Wishbone tubes are comming up at 35.1ish Bushes lip is ~4mm book is 4.5mm so 4+4+35.1 = 43.1 ( bush + tube + bush ) so that comes up .9mm short. however 43.1 is .6mm more than the chassis braket, and the difference between the crush tube and bracket is 1.5mm So.... Am I being over critical, they fit up fine with the bracket "EASED" . TT

Hi, make the crush tubes .5 mm longer than the distance across the fitted bushes then tweek the brackets to suit you can bend them a little with an adjustable spanner,
make sure they move ok once fitted up slightly stiff is ok but you shouldnt need to use any real force to move them up and down. oh and its not being overly fussy these cars are all about handling after all. Ray |

sound like I will be more or less OK then with a little tweaking of the brakets.
Cheers. TT

The thing you need to make sure is right is that the area where the poly bush sits in the bracket is square to the end of the crush tube.
Kind regards John

Yeah I thought about that. what I am going to do is make up a 44mm long block the width/height of the bush.
Then spread the bracket, fit the block and then clamp up the bracket to fold it back flush against the block making it nice and square. therby making it sit correctly in the apature. TT
