There are quite a few variants of the lt 77. The bellhousing from the range rover is too long to use on the 2wd lt77 boxes. They are about a foot long compared with the 2wd version that is about 7" long. You cant just swap the input shafts either as they are different in length too. Also all these 2wd boxes differ as well. The sherpa boxes have the gearchange position close to the box and the sd1 rover has about 6" of extension. I dont know which one is more suitable for the roadster ,it might pay to dangle the engine with bellhousing in the engine bay then see which one is more favourable. The last thing is the diameter of the spigot bearings in the end of the crank, there are least three different diameters of g/box input shafts so you will need to get the right one fitted, the range rover has a huge brass bush jammed into the crank and the sherpa has a 15mm ish needle roller bearing instead. The later the lt77 the better as they seemed to get bigger bearings as the years went on, r380 being the best really. All in all you could use any of the 2wd boxes but will need your eyes open, probable best to buy an sd1 box complete. The last thing is the clutch, the range rover uses an 11" diameter clutch which wont fit into the sd1 bellhousing so you will need to have the flywheel redrilled for the sd1 clutch or get the right flywheel.
