Default How standard are 'standard' RAL colours?

If I bought body panels from various suppliers in the same RAL colour, what chance would I have of them being the same colour? And if I got the wings from one place and the nose cone, bonnet and scuttle from another, so that the two different types didn't actually touch, do you think you could get away with a subtle variation in colour?

Cheers

Adrian

hi Adrian...
alot depends on the actual colour you go for , you are correct in thinking that a RAL colour with the same code should be a good match with each other ......
but some colours are more sensitive than others ......

also ( i,m sure Fabby knows better than me ) but the way the person making the part can affect the depth of colour, i mean how much gelcoat is applied etc.

i should also say it can vary in the way the gel is supplied.... premixed or if the fabricator mixes it themselves with pigment,

what colours are you going for?

cheers

Thinking RAL 2004 'Pure Orange' - think you may be familiar with it!
Just thinking that stuff comes up from time to time, so if I could get it at the right price, it may be worth it. For instance MNR have a set of rear wings in the right color at the moment.

Cheers

i,ve seen that colour somewhere before... can,t think where tho

as i said in my last post, there can be variances mainly if a premixed / pigment self mixed gel is used, as you get a better consistant mix in premix form as the supplier has proper mixing facilities ( imagine a huge powered whisk) compared to a fabricator mixing it themselves ( human input not all the same) if that makes sense

nice colour by the way

cheers
