Enoch's Nearly Done
Hi folks, been a while since I have done anything significant but my car is now done except for the bonnet and some finishing / tidying. I will be speaking to my local DVLA next week and aim to go for IVA some time in March / April. Photos and words can be found here: http://www.deepfolly.co.uk/8.html
The new stuff is all at the end of that page. Enoch. |

A little bit of wd40 will get the leathette looking nice and shiney again, or window cleaner that seems to remove dirt from most things.
Other than that looking good. |

looks really good.
where did you get tape for pedals in end? small point, but are you allowed to have fuel filler inside the boot. i thought it had to be outside of area in case of overfill etc. maybe (probably) completely wrong steve |

Well thank you all for your kind comments, I'm not much of a photographer but hopefully the pics give some idea.
Steve, the pedals have ribbed rubber stuck to them, it came from Woolies trim supplies. It gives incredible grip and should keep the IVA man happy. The filler is ok as the rear area is not enclosed, it only has a top on it. The tank is vented, the vent pipe terminates in the bottom corner so any fumes vent to outside the tank area. Thanks for the WD40 tip, Landy, I will give that a try. I normally only use it for after shave but don't mind using it on the car I still intend to marry my car, even though I caught the dirty bitch looking at my next door neighbour in a funny way My Wife doesn't understand me Best to all, Dave. |

i see you mounted your ecu on the scuttle with the black plastic service port cover upwards and un sealed!
get some silicone around the metal case joints and service cover to stop the damp getting in or it will be toast |

Looking great Dave
Well done on your progress Dave, you look to be well on target to driving the Roaster in the very near future
Can't belive how much you have achieved in such a short time. It just goes to show that a great looking Roadster can be built no matter how tight the budget Not a huge fan of silicone .... If you are worried about sealing that ECU, why not warm the ECU a little with a hair dryer & seal it with candle wax ? .... Very locost & a lot easier to remove than silicone

Do your head rests go up and down. If they do adrian failed on this and had to sleeve them to stop them retracting down.

Hi Folks, thanks for your comments and observations.
Baz - Good point on the ECU, I don't intend to use it in the wet but it's a good point anyways. Ronnie - interesting idea with the candle wax, I would not have thought of that in a million years Nice one. Landy, I have made some spacers, just not fitted them yet. I made them from 15mm plastic pipe sprayed black. The tops of my headrests are much less than 752mm from the seat base without them. There are a few other IVA jobs to do eg putting some trim round the bottom of the headlamp mount tubes as there is a sharp edge there at the moment. Next big job is the bonnet then going over everything again in the hope of getting a first time pass. Enoch. |
