No Spark !!! any ideas or TwinTurbos ??
Been working on a trial start today..engine 2.0 DOHC injection...I have wired up a switched 12v feed to pin 37 of ECU my fuel relays are energising i have 12v briefly to fuel pump and 11v at the coil (only between chassis and pos go across coil and get bugger all) .....BUT still no spark at the plugs...could there by any chance be an imobiliser part of the ECU that requires wired out ? this may only make sense to TT or Enoch not sure there are any others daft enough to use this engine ahahaha
Had to come in for some beer ruddy battery flat now.... |

Is the plug to the Crank Sensor connected at the lower rear drivers side of the engine?
Do you have constant +12V to the coil? Do you have +12V on ecu pin 57 & 37 & 1? +12V at the ignition module? and is it grounded? TT

PS... Have you seen the loom plugs spreadsheet on my website, it's for conversion to 24V but lists the functions of the pins of the three engine multi plugs.

Cheers Twin...The crank sensor being directly under the oil Filter ?...yes thats connected....12 v at the coil when ignition in position 2 and 3...not checked all of those pins yet but will tomorrow
Edit...not checked ignition amp...its judt sitting on the ally scuttle at the mo...i take it i should have it fixed to the chassis to get a good earth ? Last edited by Andy_B : 11th June 2011 at 09:57 PM. |

Got out for a small amount of time today ...got power on 57 37 and 1...12 volts on ign amp ...there was a core on the amp that seemed to be dropping down steadily from 12v ?...yet no spark...going to give that battery a good charge as it feels a bit sluggish when turning over...will go out and buy a charger tom as some b'tard just sniped the one i was watchin on e-bay ...

I had a situation on a build a few years ago where i had a live everywhere i was supposed to but on cranking it disappeared. Turned out to be a dodgy ignition barrel. Might be woth putting a meter across positive on the coil while cranking.

Check you have 12 v on one side of the coil - the ignition amp also needs a 12 volt feed on it - can't remember which wire. I had missed this at first and got no spark as a result. If you have 12 volts at 37 and 57 of the ecu and your earths are ok it should spark. You need to make sure the ignition amp is earthed.
Best of luck, Dave. |

Put +12V on the coil and then repeatildy quikly earth the negative side, have the king connected to a spare spark plug with the plug thread earthed to the engine block.
This should manualy induce sparks. TT
