Default VIN Number

Does anyone know of a company that would supply with a piece of sheet steel (say 20mm x 50mm) with my VIN stamped into it so that I can just weld it onto the chassis?

I'm finding it quite difficault to stamp the steel myself so that it doesn't look half arsed

I'm sure there's a post somewhere on the forums about someone on somewhere like ebay that does them and they even have haynes roadster stamped on them too.

I intend to etch my VIN number with a sprung loaded centre punch.

Going to print out a large font template out on a piece of paper, dot matrix style & use that as a guide for punching the number.

Would assume that would be acceptable for IVA purposes as most mass produced cars have dot etched VIN numbers

Just food for thought James

I can do it for you as long as there is no d in it. I loaned them to a mate and he lost that one.

PM if you still need it.

Chassis number needs to be "fixed to right hand side of the vehicle",some have welded a plate with the number stamped into it others have stamped the tubing and you also need a makers plate on the bulkhead somewhere with makers name, axle weights etc.

James, AdrianH is knocking some of these up at the moment, have a look at this thread:

http://www.haynes.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=6794

Did you get your VIN from the Peterborough office? How long did it take them to reply?
