Engine bonnet clearence
Morning all
Just got my bonnet and sat it on my chassis, I was expecting my carb to touch, but my oil filler cap is too! Now I've looked at more finished Haynes, I've noticed there's not many people with air intakes coming through the bonnet. I was fully expecting to have a k&n popping through, I kind of like it. Anyone else had this before? I have no air scoop don't know if that makes any odds. Cheers Will |
My CVH has a filter out the top. Although if the new VOSA regs come in the engine will have to be replaced with something else.

Are you using a Pinto? I am expecting to have use a different rocker cover where the oil filler neck has been relocated to the back and angled backwards...
I expect a lot of people are either using injection engines or have carbs/throttle bodies that come out of the block at 90 degrees and therefore the cut out for the air filter is only seen from one side... |
yeah Pinto, thanks for the feedback.
like i say the air intake i was expecting, but not the filler cap!! i'll keep playing and see how i go :D |

Is it IVA checked already? TT |
I like the golden rocker lid :)
No it's not Twin, I'm.on a serious go slow with my build. Want to make some proper head way this year!! |
Are you aware of the impending possible IVA emissions change?
TT |
Oil filler cap is often cut off and relocated at the rear of the cover to make them fit under the bonnet on the Pinto engines
|
Twin in a nutshell I'm hoping to get finished next year, my 1600 pinto will have to pass the current emission standards? What's the prospect of that do you know?

If this is only a consultation paper, it will take time to implement and there will have to be a period of grace surely?
Bit of extra positive pressure behind the build now, hopefully push it on  |

I put in a letter about the change to the relevant people, stating that it would significantly penalise a small number of people for very little benefit and potentially pose a negative effect ( scrapped engines, scrapped projects ).
I have an 1800 Zetec as a backup plan, but it would be nice if the people in power actualy look at what they are doing rather than whitewashing a change. TT |
