(2) Subject to paragraph (3), a registration plate shall be fixed vertically or, where that is not reasonably practicable, in a position as close to the vertical as is reasonably practical at the front and rear of every motor vehicle in such manner that the characters of the registration mark shall, at all
times, be visible from the front or the rear of the motor vehicle..

I think there was an exemption for the front one as there is not much to attach it too, and there does not seem to be a height stated apart from it must not be above a certain height.

I found that, I just wanted to check up on the max/min height if there was one.
Knowing my luck if I just located one it would be in the wrong place.

I now use the general rule of thumb that is if 3/4 of the answer has already been posted in the question then by the time you have looked up the answer and posted a reply then the penny would have already dropped. Conclusion: I also wonder why I bother so lately I don't.

Look at most small cars and the rear plate is possibly 1ft of the ground,I would/will (eventually) put it low down but not too close to the edge of the panel.
