does the dizzy have a 3 pin plug on the side? You will also need a vacuum feed from the carbs ( idealy a balanced feed from both with check valves ).

Yes it has the 3 pin plug, i was wonder about vacuum pipe, this is going to sound a bit dopey, but whats a check valve look like and how do i get a balanced feed.

Is there any vacuum take off on the carbs ( I would expect them to have them ) and hopefully each carb will have a combined vac from each venturi.
A check valve is a one way have to prevent one carb from sucking from the other. Ford ones are usualy white and black things with a port at either side. So long as you have a feed from each carb and each carb has a one way valve you should be ok. TT

I my have a problem then, as there aren't any take offs on the carbs.

er am i missing somthing if there was check valves (non return) on the vac line then the dizzy would either be sucked to full advance or would not advance at all? do you mean flame trap like you find on lots of ford carbs tt?
all you need terry is a thin vac line from any one of the manifold headers or behind throttle valve to the dizzy. so the dizzy can react to manifold pressure |

If you only draw from one header it will only see manifold pressure when that cylinder is on the intake stroke. You will get a pulsing effect on the dizzy and inconsistant timing advance. That is why you need to draw from all four headers.
If you connect all four into a small container, then connect that to the dizzy you will get a steady vacuum flow

the lotus engine was setup like it as a production car and i think thay knew what thay where doing. only things that dont like seeing a single cyl vac is map sensors as far as i know i dont expect a dizzy vac diaphram will react that quick |
