Default Crank case breather issue

Anybody read last months issue of kit car ? There was an article in the back about people who build kit cars doing away with the standard air box, resulting in higher crank case pressure, and possible engine failure. The article looked into different options including crank
Case bolt on filters e.t.c. and decided that the very best option to reduce crank case pressure was to retain the original factory fitted air box. Space is obviously a huge issue with the 7, but I was wondering what everybody else were doing, as an after market air filter is usually the preferred choice.
