p.s make sure whoever welds up the plenum uses 4043 tig rods as they have extra silicon content in them especially for welding cast ali, if they dont use them likelihood is that it will crack at some point leaving you at the side of the road.

Hi Ash thanks for the offer of welding i might have to take you up on that if i cant find anyone local. Its a little bit of welding... but i wont be able to get the thing running without it :(
Soo i guess i would need copper marine fuel lines with an ID of 8mm and then -6AN fitting i think...

Moving the car to a new garage on Sat so will be able to start work again. First job is to remove the engine and gearbox and get all the brake lines and wiring done. After that get the engine/gearbox painted and fit flywheel and clutch. Think i will also get a new exhaust manifold and make things look nice. Kev has inspired me.
If i can find about 1.5k i think i can get the engine running in the next month.

Moving garage tomorrow hope all goes well!
Had to spend 3 hours in the snow today trying to pull a trailer out of the snow only to find that it had a wheel seized. Eventually dragged it onto the road and spent the next hour getting the wheel unstuck. :(

Wiring harness for 300zx and Stagea RS4 along with ECU for both. Also a R33 GTST starter/alternator loom and various other bits. Ohhhhh its going to be so much fun............

Any thoughts how you are going to vent the fuel tank?
I guess she's going to be pulling the fuel out of the tank pretty quickly:eek:
Eternal
3rd February 2013, 01:50 PM
The tank has a breather hose welded onto it. I will have a one way valve to allow air to pass into the tank but not allow fuel to come out. I think that should world ok.

Hi Eternal,
I guess I should have known about the fuel tank vent breather pipe for some unknown reason:rolleyes: Very similar tank to mine...:)
I know you mentioned you are going to fit a one way valve to prevent vaccum but are you also planning on fitting a vented fuel cap?
If you do weld a nut to the top of the tank keep it as near to the fold as possible as this will help prevent distortion to the top of the tank.
Would it be possible to make a bracket from the Mazda fuel tank sender cover picking up two of the bolts, just a thought.
Anything you weld to a fuel tank increases the risk of a leak or failure in the future.
Also I know you are aware but IVA requires an earthing strap from the fuel tank to the chassis. Iguess you could do this from the sender flange as well.
flyerncle
5th February 2013, 08:42 PM
Agree with johno,it would be a shame to clag something on the tank, would it be possible to fix the pipes down to the securing strap when you fit them.
Eternal
5th February 2013, 09:00 PM
The securing strap does not go anywhere near it. Trust me the threaded ally tube would be welded on nice. A friend near me is a professional welder and he can do it. I don't see any other options apart from letting it float around in the air but I'm sure Mr IVA wont like that much.
robo
5th February 2013, 10:06 PM
A blind rivnut would do that job. Installed with a drop of sealer it would never leak, just thoughts.

It's 35-36cm D&W steering wheel made by MOMO - with standard MOMO bolt pattern under "soft" horn button.
I couldn't find it at Ebay, but maybe worth to try.

Is that a "T" in your front brake line? If it is I don't think that's allowable. Is there not a requirement to have separate lines from the master cylinder to each front wheel? I may be incorrect.
