The eagle has landed
Finally, 16 months after I first started work on my build table I finally lowered the car onto the ground on tis wheels for the first time :D I managed to resist the urge of doing this a lot earlier in the build and as a result I have managed to finish all the alu panels, wiring and assembly while up in the air on trestles. Should get the engine in later this week then I can start getting ready to fire her up.
Time for some celebratory beer I think :p ![]() ![]() |
Well done David
That's brilliant news Dave
Keeping the build up on the trestles certainly looks to have made life a lot easier for you. I can see that your build is at a very well advanced stage :) A huge well done on reaching such a huge milestone .... Ready in time for Stoneleigh 2011 eh !!?? :D Been following your progress since the start & will look forward to viewing future progress  |
Looks Excelent.

Looking good,very impressed.

You are at the best stage of the build now in my opinion, all the hard work and preperation has paid off and now you can bolt on all the nice clean parts that turn it into a proper car :)
Looks nice and neat |
as mark said this is the easy bit :D infact its just like building a kit car :D

looks great cant wait till i get to that stage !

Looking very smart David,
Is that your chassis plate/number on top of TR6? Look forward to the first engine start up video  cheers andy |
That looks more like a show piece David - very very nice.
Will be a shame to thrash it around on the road.....;) Keep it up....AndyH |
Nice work David !
And very nice pictures. I just saw on one of your last pictures that you have put the rear wheels the other way around ? Why is that ? regards, Wim |
Thanks for all the kind words guys - really means a lot to hear everyones compliments :D Also a big thanks to everyone on the forum who have helped over the years and to all the good ideas I've nicked from you lot :p
Started work tonight sorting out the inlet manifold that a very kind forum memeber is going to weld up for me. While the manifold is away I hope to get on with finishing the wiring, get the engine turning over and start fitting out the 'back end' (lights, arches etc) Handy - yup that is my VIN plate - it's a bit of 3mm plate I CNC machined the number into, then polished, welded to the chassis and lacquered over to protect. Wim - the wheels are on backwards as the 14" wheels will not fit over rear uprights. Will be getting some 15" alloys when I can afford them Oh and the car looks even better drenched in some Saturn fibreglass ....... ![]() |

That looks like a stunning job. I am constantly amazed at some of the cars people are producing. I keep hoping mine will turn out somewhere near as nice, even though I am building it on a tight budget.
