Measurement Needed
Hi Folks,
Need help from someone who has the nose cone and rear tub fitted, what i need is the overall lenght of the car. My build is currently 3+ miles from home and i'm going to move it to my garage at home. But i need re-arrange my garage so i can fit the roadster and my day to day work tools in the garage. Terry |
From the tip of the most frontal part of the nose to the rear lower edge( longest length of the car ) of the GRP rear tub is 331cm :)
cheers andy |
Thanks Andy...:D
|
and the widest width is 172cm from extreme outer edge of the rear wings :)
My pleasure  cheers andy ps....I cheated....the question had been asked before, a long time ago & i had replied to that thread too so the answer was in my post history :p |
HAndy, any idea the height of the engine bay from bottom rail to top of bonnet, need to see if my engine will fit without modification.
Cheers |

You have the height of the chassis from the bottom edge of the lower rails to the top of the upper rails = 355mm,
the top of the bonnet is 230mm above the upper rails at the scuttle end & if my memory doesn,t fail me 171mm above the upper rails at the nose cone so you have 585mm from base rail to top of bonnet at scuttle end & 526mm from the base rail to top of bonnet at the nose cone end . depends which bonnet you fit, as the new Saturn bonnet gives greater clearance in its larger bonnet bulge. hope that helps. cheers andy |
Thanks for the measurements Andy :)
Have 300mm to spare in lengh and about a 1m in width and still have a decent work area, just need to clear out 14 years worth of junk  from my old business. Terry |
no probs Terry , glad the info helped
Ahhh I remember the garage clearout  I,m building my car at my mothers home, as a family of 7 we moved in 40 yrs ago.....i,m sure you can imagine how much junk was in there  Its a good sized garage, got my Roadster in & still has about 10ft of work space in front of it. Only junk in there now is MYYYYY junk :D cheers andy |
cheers Andy
knew I could rely on you. Looks like my temporary engine will fit without any alterations at all. thanks again Alan/Bob |

Tho may i say, take those measurements with a slight variance being possible due to the thickness of the GRP side panel return edge that sits on the upper chassis rails....tho its only approx 2 - 3 mm ;) Maybe I need to get out more :p glad the info helped. cheers andy |
Junk?
JUNK? JUNK?
Thats not junk in my garage or yours its stuff waiting the time when I /you get around to using it!!:) While I'm here whats the total volume of the space taken up by the book spec car ( at an ambient temp of 21C) on a thursday afternoon---please:D |

Tho yes Ayjay, I do agree with you ...maybe I should have said "spare parts" instead of calling it junk :D Hang on, I,ll have a go at the volume question , tho can,t remember last time we had 21c temp on a thursday :p I,ll get my coat . cheers andy |
