MX5 Engine

Hi, finally got my project running, mx5 based, but I seem to be getting nice flames on overrun from the exhaust. It looks good in the garage but not ideal else where. Engine seems to rev cleanly & starts ok hot & cold, I presume I am getting a bit to much fuel through, any idea's

How much exhaust have you got connected while your running it, just the manifold or are they coming through the silencer and out the tail pipe?

I take you had no problems with the IVA? I agree it does look good!

Not on emissions, no!

Fixed it! Had to reset the throttle idle stop, it had been altered by previous owner of donor car. The throttle position sensor then had to be reset to suit the new idle stop. Before it must have been letting too much fuel through on idle hence the extra fuel getting through & causing the flames. It's now ticking over nicely & no more flames😃

If it has TPS on throttle body there is a micro switch in it that controls the fuel pump and should switch it off on "overrun"as you shut the throttle.
