gearbox identification
 
hi just woundering if any1 could help me ive got a 1992 sierra with 1.8cvh engine any1 know what type of gearbox is on it??

Almost certain it will be a type 9, 5 speed gearbox :)

Look at the bell housing. if it is not alloy, it will not be the MT75 box. As far as I know, they were only fitted to the 2 litre DOC sierras. ;)

Yup I agree its most prob a type 9 also another way of telling is where reverse gear is : left and forward type 9, right and back mt75, handy if you dont want to get under the car or bonnet just look at the gearknob

A trial fit of engine/gearbox is absolutely necessary. I had to change the transmission tunnel at the front end to accomodate the bulge in the bellhousing on the right and to give clearance for the clutch lever and still keep enough space at that side for my broad feet (LHD)
