Sierra 1.6 GL P reg

CAn someone answer the following questions.

I have managed to track down a 1.6 ford sierra GL P reg.

Does anybody know if that would be okay for the Roadster, I assume it will but will it give enough power for track days.?

Does it come with EFI?

Thank you

GL? They stoped that trim in 89
P reg? The last know cars are on an M plate.

1.6 Could be

Pinto Carbed
CVH Carbed
CVH CFi ( single point carb )

Ps.. track days are not all about power, a 1600 is not exactly blessed in the HP department but should still be fun.

I am going to look at the car in the new year, might be a GLS.

If all goes to plan I should get it for near to nothing and still has the keys and paperwork.

Is it worth holding out for the 2.0

Thank you Happyjo

GLS was only 2.0 and 2.9

GLX was a 1.6 trim from 91-93

1.6 will be fine to start with. most people rip the pintos out after they are through iva.

Thanks guys, I am thinking about fuel economy/ insurance etc.

Another assumption, if i fit the 1.6 then it has the same gearbox and engine mounts so transplanting the bigger enegine should be quite easy later.

the 1.6 will be a pinto and it's type 9 box will fit most other 4pot fords althought the 1.6 is not as strong as the 2.0 BOX.

How many miles do you expect to do a year? MPG is uualy not worth thinking about unless you plan to do a lot of touring.

I know this sounds a bit far off, i have not even bought the steel yet.

But I would love to drive down to the south of france on a touring holiday just before i retire.

another 12 years to go so should just have enough time to build then.

The london to brighton sounds great to.

Cheers for your reply

Happyjo:)
