Cross brace advice.

Hi all im in need of some cross bracing advice. This is the idea i have come up with. Originaly i was going to remove the current engine bay cross brace then install a new type that went up to the firewall brace then down to the engine mount, then back upto the top of the wishbone mount. But i might as well leave it in to add a little extra support. All this bracing will be done in 19mm box

What do you guys think about it?

your suggested extra bracing looks good, maybe a little overkill but then again, you,ll have lots of horses in that engine bay :D

Only other suggestion I would make is to add a corner brace on the passenger side in the engine bay...just like the one above the pedal box area...TR1 & TR2 to TR8.

Have you thought about installing a propshaft safety hoop? just in case the prop "lets go" ...it,ll stop it making a mess of your legs :)

cheers
andy

Yeah was thing about using some of the same tube used for the rear uprights. That + tunnel cross braces should be ok I think.

Will this is what i have done so far. Bit overkill but hay! :D Only downside that i have noticed is the top and bottom rail has pulled towards each other by a total of 1mm in the center on both sides. Guess its where the cross braces have cooled and pulled down a little. you guys think this will be a problem? Or should i put a jack in there attempt to bend it back? :D

1mm! :D i bet my mortgage that if you spend long enough with set squares, straight edges and a tape measure that most of your chassis will be 1mm out here and there no matter how well made it is!

I wouldnt worry about it :)
