zetec engine ecu
I know most people use bike carbs but I would much prefer to keep the standard injection.
Is this possible? Still trying to get my head round this pats thing but if I used engine, ecu, keys, transponder from the same car. Would that work or need aftermarket ecu and loom? |
Yeah I did know there was a mod needed to the inlet, there were companies making them but can't seem to find any.
I can't seem to find anything on the wiring either, which has to be the hardest part. I'm sure there will be others that have done this whether it be a roadster or any other car. Let me know how you get on |
There is a guy in Chopwell that can possibly take the pats off.

I'm running a Zetec 2.0 from a 1993 Mondeo with standard intake and ECU. I'm building a left hand drive roadster. You will have a hard time routing the steering shaft around the manifold (but it is doable), the access to your master cylinder will not be very simple, but otherwise it is not impossible.
Here's a pic of how much space you should expect: My current problem is that the diameter of the throttle body flange is 70 mm, but the space between the flange and the bonnet is around 60 mm. So it's not very easy to fit the intake bend under the bonnet, and scoops don't normally extend there. |
i'm guessing you were lucky enough to find an ecu without PATS.
I see that is very tight but shows that it is possible. flyerncle. I didn't know it was possible to remove the PATS system but that would be handy, I was also thinking it would be useful to keep as would count as a security device for SVA. |
I would have thought that as long as you have everthing from the original car it should work.
I intend to use a X20XEV out of my old Vectra and kept the ECU, transponder, ignition barrel and keys for this very reason. |
You could try Big wasa on here or on Locost fourm he has working in his car

Terry, He is a wizard with micro electronics and has removed them from VAG ecu's.
Albert, look at Fiat Punto fluid resovoir, you could use the fittings to make a remote resovoir if you extend the pipes. |

Personally I would use bike carbs and megajolt as you can unlook more power that way, with the stock system you have the same power as the donor which for the 2.0L is way down on what you can get out of it.:D |
