propshaft to gearbox

Almost at the point of fitting the engine etc.I am wondering what sort of gap people have left between the propshaft and the gearbox when the prop is located into the gearbox to allow for any movement.I am thinking along the line of 5-10mm should be plenty?
Any input/advice appreciated :)

Mine has about 20 mm of shaft exposed

If you are chopping the old prop let the gearbox seal run in the same place on the sliding section. The seal then wont have to polish another bit of unused prop.

There's a threaded shaft with a nut protruding on the middle of the sierra diff flange, you need 1.5-2.5 cm of free movement in order to be able to straddle that.
