just cleaning all my parts up and decided to change seals at side of diff (of sierra) do the seals just prise out and new ones slide in or is there anything else i should do. does look straight forward but just want to check first. also does anyone know what oil is used in diff. drained mine of, then checked haynes manual and it doesnt say what to put back in! oops any advice appreciated steve |

I replaced the front seal on mine, if you prize out the old ones out with a screwdriver, clean out the housing and gently tap in the new ones with a piece of wood that just fits in snug. Standard diff and gearbox oil is fine for the diff. AndyH

![]() the seals dont seem to want to come out. i have even drilled through it and put screw in to try and pull out. there just not budging!
is there definately not something else that needs to be done first thanks |

![]() The drive shaft seals have no trick fixings.
I usually use a very large (MF) flat bladed screwdriver to prise em out ![]() If they are being a royal pain in the ass, try finding a peice of slim flat bar, put a small 90 degree bend in one end & a larger 90 degree bend on the other end. Hook one end under the seal & smartly tap the other end in an upward motion with a small hammer .... That should get it moving ![]()
