Default Clutch pedal Bending

Has anyone else noticed that the clutch pedal is rather weak?

I popped the engine in a couple of evenings ago, hooked the clutch cable and lent into the tub to actuate the pedal. As I pushed the pedal (slightly offset load) forward it promptly bent sideways! I seem to remember another member (Dogwood??) having this problem on his car at a set of traffic lights.

I plan on adding gussets to either side of the pedal of the pedal to strengthen it up.

Anyone else encountered this problem?

Glad it's not just me - perhaps some of the manufacturers on here should include extra braces as part of their kits?

adrian h was the one that ben his pedal while trying to race another car off the lights lol. 5mm plate is a much better solution to the problem
