Default Expansion Bottle Bracket

Has anyone got a good picture of how they've done a bracket to mount the expansion bottle for the cooling system? I'm thinking a good place to put it is infront of the engine above the steering rack? Am I right in thinking that if the top of the bottle is about level with the top of the engine that's high enough?

Here are a couple of pictures of the bracket I made for my expansion tank. The bottle is from a Rover 200. I kept the vent inlet of the bottle slightly higher than the rocker cover to head joint therfore it is the highest point in the water system. Works fine.

Hmm you rover 200 bottle looks alot easier to mount than my sierra one! Has it only got mounting holes on the top? Mine's got 3 "arms" on the bottom of the bottle going at different angles away from the bottle to speak :S

There is a little pocket on the back near the bottom of the bottle you could put a lug into, I didn't bother. Just did the top bolts tight to stop the bottle swinging.

Another good point is that you can get the brand new, and not have all the discolouration of an older bottle.

That tank on big wazas car looks about right ,you need about a pint of expansion room for every 2 gallons of coolant capacity in the system.

I decided to stick with the sierra bottle and managed to get a bracket made to hold it on. Is it considered ok to bolt the bottle to the bracket and then rivet the bracket to the chassis as wasn't there something around when you couldn't use rivets to attach things for iva?
