Was just wondering if that 1ltr engine would every pull 5th gear. What was that 4spd gearbox in the early escort m1 that had a bellhousing all in one called??

Hmm no reverse, that means he could drive off and may never find his way back .

Default rocket

the 4 sp box was a rocket box the t9 or rocket are brill choices as they will fit all ford engines right up to the duratec (which they changed the bell housing pattern) so really any ford engine will do

insurance people have been quick to pick up on the bike engines and now have got wise to them
there where plenty of locost in yester year with 1300 xflows and 4 and 5 speeds so i dont think there is too much of an issue there.

an early ka 1300 would be a good choice for availbilty or an engine out of a ohv fiesta
getting down to 1000cc or below could make things a little more tricky as im not sure what amount of small engine fiestas or escorts are going to be still around thease days

Question

Have put a bid on this.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ford-angli...item1c1e9f7195

The same seller has an anglia box on a seperate auction but would prefer the type 9 as it will be a better box for the car for a later upgrade. Would the pinto bell housing still fit the pre crossflow engine??????????

By doing this am I in for a hiding on the clutch and starter motor front?

Hi Bob

That looks like it will fit the bill exactly

Might be worth trying to cut a deal on the 4 speed box as well.

Got a sneaky feeling that some of the earlier ford boxes had built in bell housings ?? ( That could be total crap mind you )

Did the early Kent crossflow use a bendix type starter ?

Either way, if you try to keep it all original I doubt you will have any problems getting hold of the right parts to marry it all up

One of my mates had a 105E, pimped the engine a little & it went like stink.

That was many moons ago but seemed very fast at that time
