![]() Qualify make a close ratio gear set for the mx5 gearboxes. The thought of it reminds me of my old 1.6 205 gti. A great revvy little engine with close ratios was awesome fun and strangely 115bhp seemed plenty in that car.

![]() Vitesse were in one of the kit car mags a few months back, I remember hunting them out to see what bellhousing kits they did. As far as I could tell, they only worked with the NC box, which is completely different to the NA/NB.
An NC box certainly isn't as cheap as an NA one either! Last edited by PorkChop : 10th November 2015 at 08:19 PM. |

![]() £50 adaptor to fit a zetec to an rx8 box. You can make an offer on it too.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/ulk/itm/252162235480 This is the cheapest rx8 box with delivery. http://www.ebay.co.uk/ulk/itm/281843217519 There are others that are cheaper but collection only. |

![]() But I wasn't talking about the (AFAIK very similar, but not identical to the NC) RX8 box though.

Lots to think about. I need to get the chassis started first before buying anything but obviously need to make decisions on running gear which dictate certain parts of the chassis.

![]() If converting to an rx8 6 speed costs an extra £100 over a type 9 then surely it's worth the extra?
The type 9, and I've owned a few is very poor and much weaker when compared the Mazda box. The shift is long and notchy and doesn't have the nice short slick feel of a modern gearbox. The type 9 may be a more straightforward fit but not by much. |

If the RX8 box has anything like the shift quality of the NC MX5 box, then it is well worth it, the NC is a beautiful box to use. Last edited by PorkChop : 14th November 2015 at 12:23 PM. |

![]() Also, all type 9's are very old now with a corresponding amount of wear.
