The 1UZ-FE is an awesome engine, but the main drawback is the gearbox it comes with. Whilst rear wheel drive it is auto only, and there is no manual gearbox which will bolt straight to it.
Also I'm not sure it's smaller than the RV8; from memory it's about 800mm square... don't hold me to that though!

Check this page out.

http://www.super7thheaven.co.uk/blog...v8-dimensions/

"The Rover V8 basic dimensions:
Length : 708 mm
Height : 707 mm
Width: 770 mm
Weight: 220Kg (minus starter & flywheel)
Power: 150 – 230BHP (ignoring the TVR 5.0 version)

Lexus V8 4.0 quad cam 32 valve V8 basic dimensions:
Length : 655 mm
Height : 610 mm
Width: 620 mm
Weight : 177Kg (minus starter & flywheel)
Power : 256BHP -305BHP

Don't forget the Lexus comes in sohc and dohc variants and the rv8 is annoyingly wider when the exhaust manifolds are fitted.
