When you do start cutting it,I made the top and lower rails in one complete section and just cut a "v" out where they need to curve,bit stonger and less cutting/welding if you get what I mean.

No parachute require to freefall,only if you want to do it twice.

I left said tube out as well and to date cant tell what if any difference it would make.

Probably over engineered for safety/liability.
But would add to rigidity of the frame,someone with Cad could do FEA and tell you if it would make that much difference.
