|   Thanks guy, The phone number that Ianr supplied got me through to a guy at DVLA K & R department and they told me to email them with my info, which I've done. so just waiting to hear back from them.

|   Sorry if this is a daft question but at what point should I be applying for a VIN? I have my chassis pretty much all tack welded together |

|   Mines rolling (kind of) but I sent my letter off before I even received my steel. I wanted to incorprate mine into a number of places on my chassis and I though it would be far easier to do it while I was building it rather than once it's finished. I'm sure I'll be corrected if I'm wrong but I can't see the VIN Number ever becoming invalid.

|   get it as early as possible so that you have clear access to all the required tubes where you are going to put it I talk from experience @~#' it was quite frustrating doing it after the sides were on , engine in etc

|   I engraved the number in 3 different places, by time the car was built each had been obscured partially or fully by something I hadn't considered at the beginning of the cars build ;-)
