I prefer the Type 9 box, usualy has better ratios than the MT75, the V6 box is better on both with the Type 9 easier to fit but still a bit of work.
The DOHC engine is the least popular of the Ford range however if you do fit it then a swap to Zetec in the future is a simple swap.
The DOHC and the Zetec have induction on the right exhaust on the left.

The Pinto is easy to tune to 130bhp, injection head, a 285 (FR32) cam and some bike carbs.
The rods are the week link so a 205 block from an injection engine will get you the best rods 7500 rpm and the best head (better induction short side turn) worth 10 bhp on its own. A Felpro gasket gives you 9.7 to 1 compression for £37 and your only real expense is a cam kit and carbs, Oh and a Vernier cam pully.

I got a RL2 cam and Vernier pulley for £30 at a swap meet.
