The other post was probably mine, I think?

Two components other than the chassis is easy to do on the following basis:
Scoring components
The following values will be allocated to the major components used:
chassis or body shell (body and chassis as one unit - monocoque ie direct replacement from the manufacturer) (original or new) = 5 points
suspension = 2 points
axles = 2 points
transmission = 2 points
steering assembly = 2 points
engine = 1 point

Using the steering and gearbox plus a new chassis will get you an age related plate. Rear axle components will bolster it. The engine would only score you one point but that only really matters if you want to retain the donor plate when you need to amass 8 points.

Just make sure you can document or photograph where your donor parts came from ie. same source and you will be fine. DVLA will probably still mess you about, though.
