flyerncle you are quite correct RHS refers to the profile of the tube i.e rectangular and ERW refers to the rproduction method in this case folded from a flat sheet then welded. Chances are your RHS will have been produced this way it just might not state the fact, see if you can see a weld line

thanks for al your feed it is SHS square section and my big consern is will it pass the i v a ?????????????

One thing to note though is that ERW has better characteristics in the event of a crash as it tends to 'crumple' .
