I didn't realise that the baffle had come away completely

Just wish I was in a position to help Ash. Got Argon, got filler rods but 400 miles away ain't a lot of help

If only we had the benefit of hindsight

Crazy idea here....
You cab buy tank repair paint. usually used to seal up the inside of fuel tanks. Could you empty the tank, pour the paint / sealer in and this should hold the baffle from moving about. OK it won't be the best fix, as bodges rarely are. But atleast it means you don't have to butcher your tank.

Yes but then he won't have a baffle, possible leading to fuel starvation during heavy cornering (on a track obviously)

could always cut a hole in the bottom plate, somehow secure the baffle plate wherever poss then weld on a swirl pot, both problems solved, baffle plate made redundant & fuel starvation won,t arise

i gave in i dont have time to make another one before exeter so i have rung martin at mk engineering and he kindly offered to make me one in exchange for some of my penny things that i keep getting for turning up at that strange multi story building every monday to friday.
