Just like going to a pre-booked MOT you can drive a car there out of MOT. Even if you fail you can drive it home as long as the examiner deems the failure to be not an imminent danger to the user or other road users. If it breaks down on the way to the test you would be well miffed though.

As far as i know .... You can drive the car to an IVA inspection, provided that you have adequate insurance cover of course.

Should you fail you may also drive the vehicle straight back to where the remidial work is to be done .... If the examiner finds a defect that renders the vehicle dangerous to drive, he may prohibit the vehicle from being driven away.. !!??

1.6 Miles Away...

Aparently you have to trailer to the DVLA office though? ( It's almost on the way home )

yes you may drive your car to iva as long as you have insurance. infact you can drive your car to any pre booked ministry of transport appointment with just insurance.

my iva centre is about 10 miles from me but if i go there through the lanes its about 11 miles but i will have more chances to use the brakes and get them bedded in. if it breaks down on the way then i will just go get the trailer

it had a whole day of being hammered on the rolling road and didn't miss a beat once so im quite confident that it will make it.

Smile Lucky devils

You lucky, lucky devils ....... My nearest centre is a 230 mile round trip

Test & re-test 460 miles of lugging a trailer ..... Going to be an expensive IVA for me !!??
