U trim is ok used in the correct application like trimming body panels etc. what is not acceptable is stuck on bits of rubber u channel on places it wouldn't be normally intended for.

In other words, Ash, if its what you'd expect to see on a production car then its Ok. If you wouldn't expect to see it on a production car then its not!

It could be argued that the door trims around the Sierra (and most other cars) are effectively U trim combined with the door seal. The U trim fits over sharp metal edges on that so it should be ok. That sounds so convincing I amy use that at IVA time
