You can remove the driveshafts complete with brakes from the donor without undoing the hub nuts, to get the diff out.

If you then want to take the backplate off of the driveshaft for cleaning / painting you will need to undo the hub nut. It is easier to loosen it while the car still has it's wheels, and sat on the ground. If not a big vice and air gun will be necessary as they are VFT.

Passenger side if left hand thread.
