Ok so this is what I've tried in the past:

1.8 Zetec flywheel (the one with the bevelled edge) from '93 car with clutch cover, on stock Sierra type 9 with cast iron bellhousing, and sierra CCT 132 release brg. and got same result as you Ronnie.

Replaced '93 flywheel with '99 flywheel and clutch ( because I had one to hand ) but no different.

Replaced CCT 132 with CCT 133 but this brg wouldn't fit on first motion cover sleeve as the sleeve was too big! ( Brg intended for 2000e type gearbox with smaller FMC sleeve).

Tried Transit CCT 303 but the brg was a bit too big and didn't sit on the clutch cover fingers properly.

Got peed off and machined the Zetec flywheel (as retro ford and 105speed) to take standard Sierra clutch. Weyhey this works good!

Since by this time I had spent way more on parts than a Burton flywheel I could have done that from the start and made my life easy.
But I'd still like to know why the combo everyone else says works wouldn't work for me......

BV.
